How do I know if my provider is in-network?

To ensure you receive in-network benefits from an in-network provider, you can contact the Ridgeview Community Network Navigator at 952-442-7860 or email navigator@ridgeviewcommunitynetwork.org, view the network options, or contact your health plan customer service found on the back of your medical ID card.

Can I go to an out-of-network provider?

Generally, all plans offered include out-of-network benefits with a separate out-of-network deductible.  Keep in mind that the amount you pay for your care will be significantly higher when seeing providers who are not affiliated with Ridgeview Community Network (RCN).  If the services you need are not available within RCN, it is possible to have these charges processed as in-network.  You must discuss this with our Network Navigator before your appointment.  The Network Navigator submits an authorization form directly to your health insurance plan in order for the services to be processed as in-network.  A “referral” from your primary care provider does not take the place of our authorization form.  Contact our Network Navigator for more information at 952-442-7860.

My son or daughter attends school outside the Ridgeview Community Network service area. Can they still receive in-network coverage?

Yes, if your child is outside your health plan’s service area and she/he needs care, she/he can receive in-network coverage by visiting a provider in your health plan’s travel program network. NOTE: All emergency care is covered as in-network regardless of where he/she attends school.  Urgent care is covered at an in-network level for some plans.  Virtual care, otherwise known as online e-visits, and in-network convenience/retail care clinic options are also available.

If your child attends school outside Ridgeview Community Network’s seven-county west metro service area (Hennepin, Carver, McLeod, Sibley and Wright counties) but within the health plan’s service area (for example, Fargo, N.D., or Mankato, Minn.), out-of-network benefits would apply when seeing a provider.

What if I’m traveling and I have an emergency? Where should I go for care?

Go to the nearest hospital emergency room or urgent care center. ALL emergency care is covered at the in-network benefit level, regardless of where you are in the country or traveling internationally and urgent care is covered at an in-network level for some plans.  Virtual care, otherwise known as online e-visits, and in-network convenience/retail care clinic options are often available for non-emergency care.
